Kendal~Crosslands Communities offers extensive health and wellness programs designed to help residents stay well and maintain their highest level of self-care and independence. From the Fitness Team, Health and Wellness Coach and Therapists on staff, Kendal~Crosslands Communities is dedicated to wellness for our residents and staff alike. Residents are active participants in their health care decisions, working together with staff to seek solutions that encompass total well-being and preventative care. The possibilities are endless, and the variety is sure to help all residents to keep healthy and fit.


Aquatic Centers
Residents at Kendal~Crosslands Communities can enjoy the use of aquatic centers located at Kendal at Longwood and Crosslands including:
- Salt Water Pools
- Large Therapy Pool
- Lap Pool
- Hot Tubs
- Outdoor Pool at Kendal at Longwood
- Group Exercise Classes
- Water Bikes
Fitness Centers
Maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle is easy to do in our Wellness Centers located on each campus. Fitness Team members are all professionally certified and focus on getting to know residents to match exercise programs to individual needs and capabilities. The Fitness Team, Nutrition Experts, Fitness Instructors and a Health and Wellness Coach are available at both communities to guide you through your optimum health needs and goals.
Features Of Our Fitness Center Include:
- Variety of Cardiovascular Machines; for example Treadmills and Ellipticals
- Kaiser Strength Training Equipment
- Free Weights
- Peloton Bikes
- Group Exercise Rooms
- 1 on 1 sessions in fitness centers and pools


Group Exercise Classes
The Wellness staff offers a weekly schedule of classes that change regularly. The rotation of classes keeps a variety of classes to meet residents’ needs and goals. Group exercise offerings include but are not limited to the following; Aquatic, Balance, Cardio, Yoga, Zumba Gold and more!
Outdoor Fitness Opportunities
In addition to indoor fitness and wellness activities, our 500 acre campus offers over 11 miles of hiking and walking trails. Paths across campus are paved, and many are covered, to provide everyday exercise when coming to the main center.
There are tennis, croquet, pickleball, and badminton courts available as well.
Many of our residents also spend time in their personal or community gardens. In addition, resident committees/groups are involved in cycling throughout the community and on nearby trails, and residents have easy access to canoeing and kayaking on the nearby Brandywine River. You can even rent a sailboat or paddleboard at Marsh Creek State Park.

Staying fit and active is important as we age, and the residents at Kendal~Crosslands Communities have amazing resources to help them on their journey.
All members are professionally certified in to help residents achieve their goals, in every aspect of their lives. Residents are always busy, participating in the many activities that are offered in the Kendal~Crosslands Communities.
No Judgment, Supportive Environment
The ability to customize a wellness plan to meet your current and future needs is important. The Fitness Team works with the physical therapists and physicians on staff to make sure people stay healthy. By working together, our staff helps every resident stay in the best shape possible.
Most importantly, this is a judgment-free zone, Everyone is here to be supportive and encouraging, and even if you haven’t been active, we’re happy to help design a program to meet your needs and become more active, to help maintain your health.
